What to do first?
One of the first steps to starting Counselling is the initial contact. This is you taking steps to change your life. So well done for being brave. It’s an empowering feeling to start any process for yourself by yourself.
Not everybody has goals immediately, but if you do, you should share them during the consultation. Often, the first contact just informs your gut feeling about whether you are in the right or wrong place for you. You can also let off a bit of steam.
You may feel like you are in a crisis; if so, the aim is to reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed. Just Seeing the wood from the trees. You may want to write down your thoughts before we meet to help you at this initial contact.
